After Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s exit thanks to her pregnancy, the director has to reportedly deal with delays due to Kareena Kapoor’s impending marriage plans
There is no doubt that Madhur Bhandarkar is in one of the most sought after and critically acclaimed director in the industry, having won many popular and National Awards for his films. Despite all the glory, for his most ambitious project Heroine, he seems to be at the mercy of his leading ladies. First it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and now Kareena Kapoor. First he approached Kareena for the film and she turned it down because she had certain reservations about the script. Then he got Ash to replace Kareena. But that didn’t end his troubles. His plans got derailed when Ash backed out of his film because of her pregnancy. At first the director went into depression, locked himself up in his home and went off the radar for a few weeks. Slowly he got out of his sad state of mind and decided to start afresh. This time he decided to go back to his original choice – the Chammak challo girl, Kareena Kapoor. Even Bebo is said to have given him a lot of heartburn before signing on the dotted line. Not only did she ask for changes in the original script, but she also for a huge remuneration (rumoured to be the highest a leading lady ever quoted in Bollywood) and got it too. She even laid down many terms and conditions about what she would do and not do in the film, and Madhur had no other choice but to agree. The shooting of Heroine has started but it seems that Bebo now has other priorities. Firstly, she has to finish the shooting Agent Vinod, her beau’s ambitious spy thriller after which she has to go around promoting it too. Once that is taken care of, she has to prepare for her wedding to Saif. That, it seems, has disrupted the shooting schedule of Heroine, once again and the film is now set to get delayed even further. Wethinks that if Madhur wants to finish his ambitious projects, then he really needs to be patient with his leading lady. We just hope that at the end of it all Heroine actually manages to impress the audience. Otherwise Madhur will be forced to go off the radar once again!
