Is Mirza Sahiba the right debut for Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor?

The Slumdog Millionaire actor’s son has finally decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps; he will debut in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s period story

Looks like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra shares a special equation with Anil Kapoor’s family! After working with Sonam Kapoor in Delhi 6 and the critically acclaimed Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the passionate filmmaker has now taken on the task of launching Sonam’s brother – Harshvardhan Kapoor.

There was some buzz that Anil’s young son was not really interested in acting and studied screenplay writing and acting in the US. The powerhouse actor too mentioned that Harsh wasn’t sure what he’ll eventually pursue as a career option. But after a start in assisting Anurag Basu on Bombay Velvet, it seems that Sonam’s younger brother may have found his true calling.

While Mehra has already roped in his favourites Sonam and Waheeda Rehman for pivotal roles in his dream project Mirza Sahiba, he has recently finalised Harsh as the lead character. “Mirza Sahiba is close to my heart. Gulzar started writing it three years ago,” said Mehra. “We needed a fresh face and I liked Harsh, as he has the fierce intensity of a lover in him, combined with an innocent softness in his eyes.” In Mehra’s words, his latest obsession is a unique love tragedy based in folklore and is scheduled to go on the floors next year.

While it would have been fun watching the Kapoor brother-sister jodi on screen, the female lead for Sahiba is yet to be finalised and it is not likely to be Sonam, obviously. We hope that Harsh doesn’t have a debut dud like his sister, considering that the lad has chosen such a hatke story as his launchpad. Or will Mehra do a better job at grabbing the audiences’ pursestrings than Sanjay Leela Bhansali did? We wait to find out….
