Comedy rules on television and the numbers of the recent shows that have gone on air are a proof of that
Sony TV’s Comedy Circus was a leader in the market of stand-up comedy shows until Kapil Sharma came with Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors. Overnight, the show became popular, so much so that people began identifying comedy with the producer-comedian Kapil. The other name that climbed the charts was Sunil Grover, who after his tiff with Kapil, decided to start his own show.
Sunil’s new show on Star Plus is called Mad in India, where the actor will be donning the female avatar called Chutki. Actor Manish Paul has joined the show too – as an anchor – although he will be doing a lot more than just anchoring.
The new addition to the list of performers is Marathi actor Siddharth Jadhav, who is also seen in Comedy Circus. The comedian will be the second actor to leave the show, to join a rival channel. We tried getting in touch with the channel to know their stand on this, but have received no response on it.
While we congratulate the actor on his new venture and hope he has parted ways with the makers of Comedy Circus amicably. However, we are sure this move will not go down well with the makers of the popular show.
Nonetheless, we wish Siddharth all the best and hope he rocks on Mad In India, and continues to make us laugh.
