Despite being one of the most profitable production houses of Bollywood, YRF seems to be in no mood to shell out cash where it matters
Yash Raj Films, helmed by Aditya Chopra is arguably the only production house in B-town that is working with the three biggest Khans in one year. The Salman Khan-starrer Ek Tha Tiger is all set to take the BO by a storm, the untitled Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif film will be wrapped soon, and the shooting for the Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom:3 is about to begin. Phew! Does it get bigger than that for any production house? We certainly don’t think so. This is the reason why we were shocked when we learned about the stingy ways of Yash Raj Films.
On the condition of anonymity, a hassled friend of ours ranted, “As an exhibitor I admire Fox, Eros and Reliance for their supply of publicity materials, they are always prompt and ready to help. For Salman’s Bodyguard, Reliance sent us a specially made 50×10 banner along with two banners of 20×20. Same was with Eros’ generosity, when Shahrukh’s RA.One released. We wonder why YRF is not willing to spend on the banners of Ek Tha Tiger. They say that they will not be able to send us a special 50×10 banner.”
Guess free banners for exhibitors aren’t part of Aditya Chopra’s promotional plans! What do you guys at YRF have to say to that?
