The film has already recovered Rs 20.5 crore at the Indian box office, and is now looking forward to earning big bucks in the overseas market
Ishaqzaade is the first Yash Raj film in a long time that wasn’t released in the overseas market alongside its Indian release. While the production house hasn’t revealed the real reason for this decision, it is obvious that the Chopras were playing it safe.
The film had rank newcomers – debutant Arjun Kapoor and the one film old Parineeti Chopra – in the lead, and it was set in small town India, unlike most other Yash Raj Films projects that are known for their glitz and glamour, perfect for the NRI market. But the response the film has got in India seems to have encouraged Yash Raj to finally release it in the US and UK this Friday.
Ishaqzaade, made at a budget of Rs 25 crore, has already earned around Rs 20.5 crore in five days and is set to become a hit. The overseas collections should only add to the profits of this Habib Faisal film.
