Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon: Is Star Plus trying to defame Barun Sobti?

The serial on Star Plus is nearing its unexpected end and explanations are being offered in the most bizarre way. So what’s up here? We dig in to find out…

Almost a fortnight ago, we woke up to the news of Barun Sobti, the lead actor of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, quitting the show to explore greener pastures of B-town. And while there was a persistent buzz about Viraf Phiroz Patel, a new hottie to be roped in to replace Sobti, it seems the makers now reveal a totally different story.

Whoever glued in to Star Plus between 9-9.30 pm yesterday would have been privy to the message displayed on the channel that was somewhere on the lines of – ‘Barun Sobti has decided to quit the show to pursue a career in films. And our repeated attempts to change his decisions have gone in vain. So the show will be abruptly ending on November 30.’

But hey, it isn’t the first time that a lead actor is quitting a show on television for a future in films. Remember Sushant Singh Rajput aka Maanav quit Pavitra Rishta to play a role in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che? But that never resulted in the show shutting shop, did it? So why is the case so different with Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

It may be because the makers earned a lot of flak from the fans after news of Sobti leaving the show broke out. And that must’ve given rise to the notion that Patel, how much ever handsome he might be, would never be able to fill in the void that Barun will leave.

But is it fair to put the entire blame on Barun Sobti in full public view by displaying the message? Die-hard Sobti fans who are loudly protesting on social networking sites are of the opinion that Star Plus is trying to defame Barun.

that was an awful banner and we never expected star to do such a low life sort of thing.thy tried to spoil barun’s image.many other actors left der shows , did thy ever do dis?? then y Barun.he clearly said he is on break , he cleared things in UK SPL event too.. so wats da point of all this .. this was a pathetic act.. ans Starplus owe public apology for doin dis !!

Oh yes, definitely! If there was a problem about him leaving the show then how come Patel has been shooting for 1.5 months? How come Arnav’s death scene has been shot and is not being shown? How come there isn’t going to be a mahaepisode as there is whenever a serial ends? SP is just trying to save it’s own name & putting all the blame on POOR BARUN!

cut it u … he didnt leave the show for films.may be u have least knowledege . so just go get a life n enhance ur knowledge.. he has no projects in his hands right now. that means he has no films to do. gul on forum 32 has already said we run out of ideas n the story has completed its course.so its all SP n gul not barun. he needed a break n thy made him quit ..so u get lost

It is really very very wrong on the part of Star Plus to show such a disclaimer…if they wanted to inform the public about the show ending they could have just written “due to unavoidable circumstances the show is ending” why to write about Barun…we all fans of Barun know wot the whole truth is which will take lot of screen space if they were to put that in the disclaimer…this move has only put SP in a bad name.

Ya, it is obvious that an actor wants to move ahead in his career. So, it’s not a new thing at all in Indian Television industry, but here the case is if they r blaming Barun that he’s leaving d TV for big screen where r his upcoming projects, any updates?. I don’t know who is really behind the statement tyhat was published during the serial , whether it is SP or PH. Whoever it is, that is so unprofessional to accuse an actor in by directly stating his name. By doing all these they are making Barun more and more popular not only among the small screen fans but among the bollywood people too. Wah, yaar Barun u r having so much of controversies even before your movie is released. Now d spot light is on you, Chill yaar. You have a long way to go. Eagerly waiting for your movie to release. V fans are always with u in whatever decision you make. All d best 4 ur movie and all other upcoming projects. Waiting for the IPKKND season 2 with d same cast.

this is really really sick and seems very cheap for Star Plus to do … if you really wanted to end the show because Barun was leaving, you would have worked towards crafting a clean end, now just because you feel the show might not survive without barun you want to disgustingly and shamelessly lay such a cheap blame on Barun in full public attention!!! how disgusting!!! even in the worst circumstances throwing such dirt around in public is bad and in this case fr a professional exit made by Barun you are taking such a cheap stand. I am unsubscribing Star Plus soon as IPKKND is over, anyway i dont watch much on star, why should i pay such an unprofessional and disgusting channel …

I will not blame Barun for quitting the show. As we all know most of the actors already left the show. The writers were running out of ideas. See the stupid tracks like sheetal and then mrs India contest……insted they should have done some honeymoon tracks or shashiji getting well and revealing shyam or something like that. come on man,It was like a one man show, khushi does this and that. I am not blaming sanaya,because she did what she was told. I must say when shyam was on show it was very interesting.Happy for Barun if he doing movies,he deserves better than this….namasthe

I AM DEFINITELY UNSUBSCRIBING STAR PLUS WITH MY TV NETWORK PROVIDER. THIS IS UNPROFESSIONAL TO PUT SUCH A PERSONAL ACCUSATION IN FRONT OF MILLIONS WITHOUT GIVING THE FULL STORY.

It was very unprofessional of the channel to put up such a disclaimer when Barun Sobti himself mentioned in MANY interviews over the past 2 weeks that he has NO movies in the pipeline. His fans know the truth. So I didn’t get why the channel made a contradictory statement in public!
My take is that the disclaimer was very much bad in taste as it may have a negative impact on the career of such an ADORABLE and LOVABLE actor – Barun Sobti. He is a very down-to-earth person and his politeness and humility are being taken advantage of!

We love Barun Sobti..and no matter what the channel says, we’ll always love him, because we know the truth!

it is very sad to see the level both PH and the channel are stooping down to. most of the online fans know where the trouble lies. with the production house trying to wash their hands by making barun sobti, a scape goat, the channel is not left behind by putting such disclaimer. it is a shame. Fans sympathies goes to barun sobti, who is bearing this silently.
His fans will stand by his decision whatever may come.

what i did not like in the SP disclaimer is that their saying- barun sobti left the show for the movies which is false as per the interviews of the actor himself and the related articles.

so if they would have claimed that the show is ending as per the demands of the fans, nobody would have had the problems, and that was the truth. but their false claim that barun has left the show for movie didnot go down well with the audience.

Star Plus shud not hv made such disclaimer in the first place… If at all they wanted they could hv said due to fans pressure we r closing it if they wanted to save 4lions and their open letter fiasco on forum32… We r ready to take the blame cuz we did not want the beautiful love story to be ruined, so we protested to end it with ARHI… Arnav and Khushi are heart and soul of IPKKND, and without one the other is incomplete… And Barun and Sanaya breathe life in ARHI…. It’s a simple logic…

We now just want that we get back SARUN (Sanaya and Barun) back in a New show… An intense romantic love saga….. :)

When sp issued warrents for the demise of ipkknd on the 30th of this month right after the SPL shows, I felt as if they have slapped the audience and announced their undying love for the production house. The rest of their intentions became clear when they put a disclaimer declaring Barun to be the sole reason of the closure of their show.
The production house wanted to close the show and it would have happened in good time but now they have made Barun and his fans the reason for it. On the other hand SP has managed to deal with the whole issue with such fineness that it has satisfied its customers, destroyed Barun, made way for its new shows, pleased 4 lions, meanwhile itself emerged as a martyr to gain the sympathy of the public without moving its little finger.

The beauty of it all is that we have heard nothing not even a peep about Sarun making a second appearance but Lalit Mohan has already announced another Romantic interlude with our priyaa 4 lions. So at the end of it all Sarun are the loosers and SP is the hero with 4 lions as its bhagidars in grandeur. Bravo this is what is called killing several birds in one stone.
And we the audience are the biggest of all losers for playing right into their hands.
Next move:
Bring Barun in a dance show and like via Manet boot him out to anonymity in a fair battle because ” Papu” can’t dance sala.
This time no one would blame SP either.
Second step take the same team of Ipkknd sans Barun and do a bigger love story to wean the audience of their first love i.e. ipkknd.
Wow what players.

We are undoubtedly sure that SP is trying to defame Barun Sobti. I don’t know that why are they lying and defaming such a brilliant TV actor, Barun Sobti. Barun Sobti didn’t left the serial for the movies at all according to his interview as well as other articles!!! we didn’t expect such an unethical and unprofessional behavior from the india’s no. 1 channel, star plus!!! It’s totally wrong to blame Barun Sobti, Don’t know what StarPlus’s strategy was. Ruining Barun’s name is totally wrong. When SP & 4lions didn’t know where to take the show, SP decided to blame Barun.

Barun only suits the role of ASR because of the fact that ASR is a character was SCRIPTED. ASR is a man with a stern look…hardly smiles…hardly speaks…looks intelligent…thinks before he speaks…doesn’t stammer..is very professional…has a professional approach and dresses smartly basically FULL OF CONFIDENCE. Barun has none of this he is a total opposite. ASR might have some things about him the we hated but to be honest he looked decent! Barun played this role perfectly. when hearing/watching his interviews, one can judge that he is not what we see onscreen! I doubt he can suit the versatality of other characters compared to sanaya! her role as Khushi is what we see in real life. Loud, bubbly, hyperactive and always on the go! She normally takes the mic off barun to speak. Sanaya is versatile and fun! so people should avoid giving all the credits to Barun! other acts were great too and they’ll be missed!

Uffffff…THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL THING TO DO .. Putting the blame on one individual without giving the whole story .. Both the PH and the channel would have known earlier abt his decision whether it was a long break that he wanted to to quit, they kept it under wraps in order not to disturb the sales of the SPL in UK….but they should have planned and managed his exit, then underestimated his popularity and chemistry with his co actress that created the magic of their characters!

It was and always has been the decision of the creators (PH and SP) to do how they see fit…they could have continued but they realised esp after SPL that fans want to see these two together ….their internal politics has made them take this decision may or maybe not the the fans played some part of it…but I think it was ” revenues” that played the biggest role!

Barun, never asked anyone to end the show, he even shot a death track! He never asked us to support or voice our options either….for us who are IPKKND lovers we could her to see our favourite Jodi apart!

So Barun to me still stands strong and alway will!

the PH 4 lions and channel SP are trying to get away putting the blame on Barun Sobti ~!!!!

blame us fans and we wont mind coz we as viewers who have loved IPKKND despite its very weak acript…it was all coz of our love for arnav and khushi that we watched the show !!!!

the PH 4 lions should be blacklisted taking into account their histroy of trashing their own shows when new ones come in…

watch out for Qubool Hai next year…am sure the show will face the same torture next year !!!

Barun Sobti is completely innocent….we as fans demanded that the show end with Sanaya and Barun as leads…we never wanted a new face in the show !!!!

so SP better take back that disclaimer…coz its going to prove disastrous for them….

many of us are quitting all SP and 4 lions shows once IPKKND is over !!!!

STAR PLUS blaming BARUN just shows how UNPROFESSIONAL they really are. IN fact Barun was going to return after his break but they made it impossible for him to do so. Star plus and it’s heavy handed ness has caused this and not barun, idiots. HEY GUYS DON’T BLAME SP OR PH,,,yes i hv heard barun has got an IMP.role in Ekta Kapoors film,so he left the show for movies.though i luv Barun from the bottom of my heart,i m so much disappointed with him……he shud hv told truth to fans we wud hv supported him,,,2day when i watched crying Sanaya(on SBS) felt very very sorry for her,she wanted to continue the show…but just b’coz of we fans show is gng off-air n we hurt her badly,i cann’t c her in so much pain
so frnds can we do something for Sanaya????

My comment is for somebody named SANA…….we don’t know what U think about BARUN and ipkknd. Real life and the show is different. Barun looks- whatever you mentioned-in show is right, but that doesn’t mean that he is the same in real life. If it was so it will not b called as a show, it will be called reality show. Oh…when sanaya did MJHT, did she look like gunjan off screen???? Every body got different nature. Nobody is giving full credit to barun, as we all know-even star plus-if barun leaves the show its not going tobe off air very soon. They realized it. So please……..thank you for all good things u said about how he was in show.

Please bring back IPKKND. It’s not fair I’m IPKKND fan and Barun fans pull the plug out on the show. I want the show back on with or without Barun. All the team lost there jobs becuz of your action. what about all the other starS in the show. If Barun want to quit that’s his business but it’s not fair for the viewers and other actors. I understand that they were a great jodi but so what if they replacement him the end result is the show would have continue and give it time or chance and see how it goes and if you don’t like it change your tv station. I enjoyed all episodes and still believe that Barun is being defamed by SP. Well someone has to shoulder the blame and who better than the one man who decided to leave for reasons very personal. NEVER and I mean it has Barun ever said that he’s leaving for a career in B’Wood. When all attempts by SP and PH to carry on without Barun as ASR failed they just put an abrupt end and dumped all blame on Barun……….

Please help bring IPKKND show back with or without Barun. Barun wanted to quit so why the hell did Baran CRAZY fans ruin it for everyone esle. We loved khushi and the other stars as well and Barun was not the only star in the show. The show could of continue, and that what we wanted. You CRAZY Barun fans get our show back and if you don’t like the replacement of Barun then you could change your tv station. I was a Barun fan as well but now I’m starting to hate him becuz of your action. If Khushi start a new serial and romance with another man would you stop that show too?. Would you stop Barun playing a romance scene with another girl in a serial or movie? I don’t think you can get IPKKND back. How would you feel if we ended Barun Bollywood Film or Serial?

Bring back IPKKND with or without Barun. Barun wanted to quit let him, But we want the show to continue. All those CRAZY Barun fans put an end to the show becuz they can’t see khushi with another man. What would they do if Khushi (Sanaya) start a new serial and plays romance scene with another man or Barun play an romance scene with another woman, would they end that show too. Khushi character was brillant and all the character’s but now the show has ended I don’t think they would make (IPKKND 2) after that stupid stunt you pulled and do you think that all the actors would wait around for (IPKKND 2) don’t think so. You should have let the show continue and if Viraf was not good enough, he could have been replace. How would you like it if we make Barun Bollywood film to flop or end any future serial of his, just like you CRAZY fans did. You love Barun don’t you and we loved that IPKKND show. Bring our show back or Barun with get Bollywood film to flop and bombard him with hate mail. We was Barun fans too but after your actions, you made us hate him.

IPKKND should be brought back, it’s was the best serial. I felt sooo sad seeing Khushi,Anjali,Payal,Buaji,Nana ji and NK crying losing they jobs and enjoy working together. Barun not crying just doing want he wanting, is to quit. I think ending the serial was a big mistake and it’s up to us to help get the IPKKND serial back and correct our mistake. Barun would be missed but fresh start. GET OUR SERIAL BACK AND THE ONLY WAY WE CAN DO THIS, IS THE SAME WAY WE ENDED IT.

Please Please Please bring Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. Past few days has been boring and I miss this serial so much, nothing on Starplus is worth watching. I know Barun has quited and gone for Bollywood filming but still want to want IPKKND even without Barun. Bring Back IPKKND without Barun,we would miss him but good luck to him. Barun isn’t coming back and there is no new IPKKND 2. The only way to bring the show back is the same way Barun fans ended the show, by bombarding StarPlus with phones and mails to get the show back on. First we should get the show back on but it will be without Barun. Second step is if Viraf not good enough to take Barun place then we could replace him. First we have to get IPKKND show going again. First let’s help get all IPKKND characters their jobs back and get the show going again. All you Barun fans who ended IPKKND show have mess it up for everyone. Barun was not the only star in the show, so if you got any decency left and think for others as well help us get the show back

It’s good they ended the show with Barun. There could never be a 3rd person n between Romeo Juliet or Laila Manju. So how can be someone between arnav Khushi.this is not just another serial. This is the love story of ASR and khushi

Itz so stupid. How he wil be responsible for show ending. He infact gav his paper to quit show in may month. Producers were worried abt trp and they ended. As any soap artost he also would lyk to tak to next steo that is movies… we shd wish him all the best rather than blamin him

SP was doing their job. I loved Barun too once upon a time but hey, he shouldn’t have played with the audience like this. He should have said he was leaving for whatever reason and just moved on. Confusing statements all the time, didn’t help. The IPK end was sad. Whatever it’s over.

He’s not the first guy on earth to quit so why was there so much drama revolving around his leave? Couldnt he give a simple statement instead of his confusing articles…

Barun Sobti is a stupid lairer and his fans are all stupid who ended IPKKND show. If Barun Sobti wanted quit, so let him, we didn’t care anyway but we wasn’t that fond of Viraf Patel but as least the IPKKND show would have continue, and then we could of changed Viraf Patel for a better looking guy. Barun Sobti is a lairer because he told his fans that he wasn’t quitting, he just needed a break but then he was off doing Bollywood filming, why didn’t he just say clearly he wanted to do Bollywood Films and wanted to quit the show. We hate him for that and we want IPKKND show back and never want Barun Sobti to return in any show ever again

We hate Barun Sobti and we hope all his films flop and also hope he never return to any starplus show ever again, we would end that show if he does. Love Mohit Sehgal and Sanaya Irani jodi and loved MJHT show. Would love to see Mohit Sehgal to be our new ASR with Khushi and see how that goes. Please Starplus return IPKKND show and end Masterchef or the show goes to weekends only.

We were Barun Sobti fans but he got attitude now, he so big headed and rude and so innocent and kind in front of the camera. We hate him and now he is famous it’s seem he doesn’t need us fans anymore. We want our IPKKND show back and better having Viraf Patel then Barun Sobti now. We aren’t that fond of Viraf Patel neither but If it would help kick start our IPKKND show again then so be it. We could also swap him for another Man in the future

Yes Nirobi, you are 100 percent right, SP never tried to deframe Barun Sobti. We knew this, this would happen and Barun’s crazy fans lost it and ended IPKKND show, how stupid can you get. Barun Sobti wanted out and wanted a life in Bollywood, and believe us or not Barun Sobti already thinks his a mega star. A few friends of Barun said his not the same guy before fame, only talks to you if he needs you. So many fans of Barun’s have turned to hate him. Well said Suraj. We all missed ISS PYAAR KO KYA NAAM DOON show and lets get our show back and lets show this So Call Mega Star Barun Sobti that our IPKKND show can continue without him. We thought we were the only fans of Barun’s who he was rude too, now we know his true colours, we don’t hate Barun Sobti but we think it’s gone to his head and maybe he doesn’t have the need of us anymore. Please bring IPKKND show back and after IPKKND show ended, we cried so much and we turn to watch MJHT show with Sanaya Irani as Gunjan and Mohit Seghal as Samrat, we love it and Mohit Sehgal in real life is a very kind and gentle man. Would love to see him Mohit Sehgal as ASR with Khushi

We love IPKKND show and we all want it back and Barun’s fans spoilt Barun Sobti, he was the only one getting fans mails and he started believing he was above all of IPKKND team. You Barun’s fans are the one’s to blame. We didn’t believe that Barun Sobti should have got the best acting awards, infact most actors even Bollywood actors thought that. Sanaya Irani should have got the best female acting award because the Khushi character was the most difficult acting role in IPKKND show. We want IPKKND show back and NOT WITH BARUN SOBTI but with a new ASR man, maybe Mohit Sehgal

Would love to have Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon show back and missed Khushi soooooo much, she was the best in the show and her tactic were soooo funny loved it and most of IPKKND fans loved khushi anyway. There was a survey about IPKKND show and 98 percent loved khushi. Never Like Barun Sobti and the character of ASR role wasn’t that hard compared to Khushi’s character. Would want IPKKND show back and with a new ASR man pls. NO ONE DEFAME BARUN SOBTI, HE WASN’T ALL THAT ANYWAY my friends were his fans but they hate him now and they say his no megastar but a megacrap

He is an actor he moved on and he isn’t the first one. honestly speaking any drama that runs on for a long time the lead actors tend to move on and leave cause there isnt any scope and if actor get replaced story changes and show always end there is certain cases tht doesnt happen. true fans couldnt see a messed up story.he didnt stop anyone from replacing him he Moved on and let him be. I know lots of ppol lost their job and they probably moved on like sanaya and despite being lead she doesnt mind. and ppl who lost their jobs have moved to new workplaces and also it isnt his fault. i m not a big fan of him i am a fan of the show and shows concept. The show was new and gave us alot we shudnt be sad and hateful but happy it was there n it was beautiful. (no hate just stating an opinion)!!

We missed IPKKND show and all Baruns fans did was end our show and we love the show because of Khushi and not Barun Sobti, so why end the show if Barun Sobti wanted to quit. We was happy for the IPKKND show to continue without Barun Sobti, why couldn’t they except that!. We hate Barun Sobti because of his fans ending IPKKND show. We still want the IPKKND show back with Mohit Sehgal to be ASR NOT Barun Sobti never again. We want Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal jodi in IPKKND season 2 please Gul Khan bring this show to us please.

WE HATE BARUN SOBTI. YEAH IF WE HAD A CHOICE BETWEEN IPKKND SHOW WITH MOHIT SEHGAL OR IPKKND WITH BARUN THEN WITH MOHIT SEHGAL WOULD BE OUR CHOICE. IF WE WERE TO CHOICE BETWEEN IPKKND SHOW OR BARUN SOBTI TO LIVE, WE WOULD CHOICE IPKKND SHOW AND BARUN SOBTI TO DIE.

BARUN SOBTI IS RUBBISH AND WOULD LOVE IT IF HE FILMS AND SHOWS END AND FLOP.
