Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon: Why did Barun Sobti quit the show?

The actor who played main lead Arnav Singh Raizada has decided to bid adieu to this show on Star Plus. We dig in to find out why…

After winning the ITA (Indian Television Academy) award for the best actor and winning numerous trophies at the Star Parivaar Awards 2012 Barun Sobti has decided to quit Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. But why? Are those cliched ‘creative differences’ to be blamed? “I am planning to take a break. I am very happy with the production house, but have been thinking about taking a break for a very long time now to spend some time with my wife,” Barun reveals. Really?

While Barun would like us to believe that the reason is THAT simple, sneaky birdies reveal the actor might be aiming for the bigger screen. We are also told that the chikna had taken a short break a while ago to shoot for a Bollywood movie ( Bappi Lahiri’s Main Aur Mr Right, perhaps). Hmmm, so what’s the truth, Barun?

Anyway, the actor refuses to speak up, so we let it be. But to accommodate his exit, we hear, the show will get Arnav Singh Raizada kidnapped (Wow! A genius twist, right?). And then, emerging as the new Arnav will be actor Viraf Phiroz (of Mahi Way and Kismat fame). But guess what – even Phiroz refuses to share any juicy details! “I cannot talk right now. There are a few things in the pipeline but I can only talk about it post Diwali. People who are taking the decisions are on leave.” Ahem ahem.

So while the going-ons remain hazy, we would like to ask you, readers – will you miss Barun Sobti in Iss Pyaar Ko Main Kya Naam Doon?

Barun has made ASR iconic in television. ASR is a very desirable character. It is very well written by the writer and extreemly well executed by Barun Sobti. It is as though his looks are made for a character like ASR. He looks handsome, arrogant, attractive, sensitive, naughty and smouldering hot.Its small wonder that he is winning many awards for his role. Some of us who hardly watch hindi serials, got addicted to IPKKD mainly because of Barun. I dont think anyone will suit in the character of ASR as much as Barun did. If IPKKND has to go on without Barun, then some new character should be brought in as most of us will not be able to accept anyone in the role of ASR except Barun.
Cheers to ASR aka Barun, who lights up our evenings and increases our heartbeat with his scintillating performances.bye bye ipkknd gonna miss u so much!

Don’t put the blame always on the actor… May be Star Plus and 4Lions are too at fault… They are reporting contradictory details every now and then, may be they are just trying to save their names and put the blame on Barun. Think befor u write something.

i m so much addicted to u that even thinking of ur absence from our daily life is making me sad every day ..Barun i knw if u r leaving the show,then there shud b some serious reason… but wht is our fault??? We’ll miss u everyday.but i respect ur decision n will always support u but do cm back with new production house with Sanaya only after ur BREAK!!!!!!!!SP n PH we fans want real story behind barun’s exit now….

To all the fans of IPK and Barun, can anyone speak with SP or the gul and Barun to end the show with him if he is not coming back. we can not see new guy. I am from Baharin and we here have alot of fans for Barun and this show. I can not do anything because I am in Baharin except for your help to call SP to again tallk to barun and at least end the show with him even that will break our heart but at least with happy ending. anyboday can help come on fans

The production house can do two things.Number 1.End IPKKND with Barun Sobti or number 2.Bring Barun Sobti back.Nothing else we wan’t.We can’t see another person in the place of him.No one can replace him.

the show has lost the plot…khushi like a dumb village belle gets on to your nevres…barun is no longer the smart, hot, business tycoon projected earlier…how can he tolerate khushi’s stupidty? its killing his character…glad barun made up his mind to quit

but yes, there’s been no hero like barun so far on tv…he’s too hot

yes i hv heard barun has got an IMP.role in Ekta Kapoors film,so he left the show for movies.though i luv Barun from the bottom of my heart,i m so much disappointed with him……he shud hv told truth to fans we wud hv supported him,,,2day when i watched crying Sanaya(on SBS) felt very very sorry for her,she wanted to continue the show…but just b’coz of we fans show is gng off-air n we hurt her badly,i cann’t c her in so much pain
so frnds can we do something for Sanaya????

The show was very nice. I want it to continue. This is the first time i am responding i never done this before.

WE IPKKND FANS WOULD NOT LET THIS BARUN SOBTI BACK IN IPKKND SEASON 2 SHOW, NEVER EVER BECAUSE WE HATE HIM AND ALL YOU BARUN’S FANS. IF IPKKND SEASON 2 SHOW DID COME BACK IT WOULD BE GIVEN TO A RELIABLE, TRUSTWORTHY PERSON LIKE MOHIT SEHGAL TO BE OUR NEW ASR MAN AND WE DON’T CARE WHAT YOU BARUNS FANS THINK. YOU ENDED IPKKND SHOW BEACAUSE OF BARUN SOBTI QUITTED AND MADE US MISSED THE SHOW FOR JUST ONE MAN. OUR REVENGE IS THAT WE MAKE SURE THAT BARUN SOBTI FILMS OR SHOW WOULD FLOP OR END THAT’S OUR PAYBACK, FOR WHAT YOU DID TO US

We the real true fans of Barun know from the bottom of our hearts that there couldnt be anyone better than him in the role of Arnav ….. If you dont have anything good to say, then dont say anything at all :)
