Ever since Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar released together on Diwali day, several trade gurus rushed to reveal box office collections of these two big budget films to industry people and cinegoers.
On Tuesday, according to trade expert Taran Adarsh, the India box office report card read: JTHJ 15.23 crores (2,500 screens), SOS 10.72 crores (2,000 screens). Since JTHJ was released in more screens, the film managed to earn huge money as compared to its competitor SOS, which is picking up fast with good word-of-mouth reviews. Never mind Shahrukh Khan’s declaration that “People who care about collections can live their lives like accountants, I won’t do so.”
Taran’s tweets suggest that JTHJ is not only Shahrukh Khan‘s biggest opener yet, but the collections are the highest ever for any film released on Diwali, especially on Laxmi puja day.
It’s still three days to go before we get the correct figures of these two films which are said to be rocking the box office on the third day, despite the tussle over their exhibition on the same day. As Taran predicts, “Both JTHJ and SOS are ROCKING today. Expect major growth in biz by the weekend.” Fingers crossed!
