Jagran Film Festival: Water to open fest in Mumbai tonight

The Israeli-Palestinian film is directed by nine filmmakers, who will be present at the opening tonight

The 4th Jagran Film Festival opens tonight at Fun Republic, Mumbai, with Israeli-Palestinian film Water. The 120-minute film’s Asian premiere will be held at the Jagran fest. The acclaimed film is directed by seven filmmakers, and has been picked up by Wide Management for worldwide sales rights outside France and Israel, as reported in Variety.com.

Water is a unique project made by filmmakers from the conflict zone of Israel and Palestine. We wonder if Shekhar Kapur got the idea for his futuristic film Paani from Water, or is it the other way around! But we’ll make the comparison only after having watched the two films.

Coming back to the Jagran festival, it began in Delhi and travelled to 15 cities before culminating in Mumbai. The event is the final stage of the fest and will be held till September 29. It will showcase films under seven sections: World Panorama, Indian Showcase (In Competition), Jagran Shorts (International and National in Competition), and Jagran Classics – Top 20 films of Indian Cinema, Country Focus (South Korea), Homage to Rituparno Ghosh and Berlinale Shorts.
