Everyone had huge expectations from this Salman starrer. But seems like the superstar has not even able to break the records of his previous releases
Salman Khan’s Jai Ho was supposed to hi phenomenal comeback – considering that the superstar is back on the 70 mm after a long gap of over a year – but looks like the movie received an over all thanda response, at least on the first day of it’s release.
Despite the movie having an extensive release (over 15 to 20 shows everyday in over 5000 screens worldwide), Jai Ho has only been able to collect Rs 17.50 crores net, in the domestic market. This compared to his Ek Tha Tiger which collected Rs #2.92 crore, becoming the highest first day grosser when it released is a slight disappointment.
Although, trade experts believe that Jai Ho will fare better, with the weekend. Tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “#JaiHo Fri Rs 17.55 cr nett. India biz only.” He added, “#JaiHo reports are very positive, expecting the biz to witness escalation on Sat. Tomorrow, 26 Jan holiday + Sunday should hit big numbers.”
Plus, one shouldn’t forget that unlike Chennai Express and Dhoom:3 which broke numerous records when it came to box office collections, the ticket prices for Jai Ho haven’t been hiked.
Well as per the current scenario, it looks like the Salman’s fans are not all that crazy about Jai Ho. What happens to the movie in it’s first weekend, remains to be seen!
