Jal quick movie review: Purab Kohli’s film leaves you parched with its dried and drab plot!

Girish Malik’s Jal received great response at the Busan Film Festival as well at the International Film Festival Of India (IFFI), Goa. But will this not-so-commercial film appeal to the masses?

Purab Kohli and Kirti Kulhari starrer Jal has grabbed attention at quite a few International film festivals. Set in the backdrop of Rann of Kutch, this film has been directed by Girish Malik and produced by One World Films Pvt Ltd. The trailer of Jal looked promising and was a visual delight but has the film lived upto all the hype created around it? Our film critic Prathamesh Jhadav is currently watching the film and decided to give BollywoodLife readers a quick look at what to expect from Jal.

He says, ” First thing first- mounted as a visually delightful art movie with the flavours of a masala entertainer, Jal is complicated to comprehend. Certainly not for a regular movie goer this drama set against the backdrop of the parched land of Rann, this one is a drama made of disjointed frames and sequences. Performances are sincere and cinematography is excellent but Jal leaves you parched with its dried and drab plot. Lets see if the makers can redeem themselves in the second half.”
