Jay Bhanushali is back and that too with a perceptible bang! Five years ago the dimpled dude who currently plays the role of Anuj in Kairi – Rishta Khatta Meetha exited from Ekta Kapoor’s Kayamath for the lack of substance. Then what brought him back to saas-bahu serials? We dig deeper
The set of Kairi was hot and stuffy. Actors from the show would complete their shot and wander off for a gulp of water or some fresh air. We caught up with Jay Bhanushali during one such break and quizzed him in between those refreshing gulps of water.
Jay’s claim to fame was Balaji Telefilm’s Kayamath. But he exited the show and found solace in Zee TV’s most popular reality show – Dance India Dance. Viewers slowly started recognizing the man behind Neev Shergill – the real Jay Bhanushali. He kept getting offers from television soaps, but none appealed to him.
Years later Kairi entered his life. “I was apprehensive about fitting back into this atmosphere. I thought maybe I won’t be able to adjust,” he confesses and adds, “But thankfully the team is really good. We have lots of fun on the sets.” And that, wethinks really does matter. Right?
“Kairi is a very chatpata kind of a show that women will like. And saas-bahu serials are akin to dope in a woman’s life. Women are hooked to it,” Jay said on being quizzed about his choice. “Many people question me about choosing this serial because nowadays we do have shows with male leads. People ask me why don’t I do those? I tell them that although such serials are made, not many people watch them. I wouldn’t want to put a flop show in my bag,” he explains. After all Jay’s choice of shows till now have been well appreciated. “Whatever shows I’ve done have been in the Top 5. So it feels great that my calculations are going right. So instead of returning with a show that’s male oriented but not a rage, I decided to choose Kairi.”
So now Jay has two popular shows in his kitty. “I’ve just wrapped up DID and now will start shooting for DID Li’l Masters,” Jay says talking about stuff on his plate. Ask him about what he does with the remaining time, “I spend my personal life only with my wife,” he says with a wink.
