Marred by negative reviews, the Pooja Bhatt production survives at the BO, thanks to the hype around Sunny Leone!
According to the trade reports, Pooja Bhatt’s much-hyped erotic thriller Jism 2 has garnered about Rs 19 crore at the box office in its opening weekend. The film starring adult film star Sunny Leone, Arunoday Singh and Randeep Hooda had a good first day, but showed a huge drop in collections on the second day – a result of the negative reviews and bad word of mouth.
So despite the decent opening on Friday, with net collection of Rs 7.25 crore, the sharp fall on Saturday (Rs 5 crore on the second day) didn’t do the film any good. Director Pooja Bhatt had predicted that Jism 2 will have bigger collection than Jannat 2 (Rs 24.03 crore) and Murder 2 (Rs 22.7 crore), but her assumption did not turn true. Even on Sunday the movie did an average business of Rs 5.75 crore (early estimates). In the overseas market too Jism 2 has not received a flattering response. It failed to rake in even Rs 50 lakh collectively from its USA, UK and Australia centres.
Do you think Sunny Leone’s sizzling presence will draw more audience for Jism 2 in the days to come?
