John Abraham gives acid attack survivors a reason to smile!

The Desi Boyz actor has given us yet another reason to love and respect him! John is working as an ambassador for a radio channel’s ongoing campaign for women safety. Read on to find out how John made someone’s day…

They are victims of circumstances. They are victimised by hatred or jealousy. They are further suppressed by the society. But not every acid attack victim decides to walk bravely with her chin up and head held high. John Abraham saluted this bravado by being a part of Fever 104 FM’s Mission Tezaab which reveres women for their spirit and courage.

After its first campaign, which was Men against Verbal Abuse, Fever 104 FM took up the initiative of re-establishing acid attack survivors by helping them to have a voice in the society. John Abraham was roped in as the ambassador for this project. The Housefull 2 actor was more than happy to meet the 20-year old acid attack survivor, Tarana from Agra. When the two met, John hugged Tarana and congratulated her for her bravery. He even told her to never stop smiling and always be happy. Later the actor told a newspaper that he was overwhelmed by the girl’s zest for life.

Tarana revealed how she was the most beautiful girl in her family and that her jilted neighbour whose marriage proposal she turned down, threw acid on her face to mar her beauty. But the girl showcased commendable confidence and she also advised other acid attack survivors like her to lead their lives with pride. Social activist Alok Dixit who runs an NGO for acid attack survivors believes that if an actor supports causes like these, it has a greater impact on the society and its people.

We applaud John ‘s efforts at sensitising the community towards the issue of acid attacks and we hope that Mission Tezaab bring about a massive change in the lives of people it aspires to reach out to.
