Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi’s Jolly LLB 2 seems to be doing rock solid business at the box office. Although its opening day collection was much below expectations but then gradually, the film is taking over the box office with day 7 recording a decent figure of Rs 5.03 crore – now bringing its ‘one week’ total to Rs 77.61 crore. Confirming the same, trade analyst and famous movie critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Jolly LLB2 had an IMPRESSIVE Week 1… Eyes ₹ 100 cr mark… Performance in Weekend 2 crucial, will give an estimate of its lifetime biz…Jolly LLB2 Fri 13.20 cr, Sat 17.31 cr, Sun 19.95 cr, Mon 7.26 cr, Tue 9.07 cr, Wed 5.89 cr, Thu 5.03 cr. Total: ₹ 77.71 cr. India biz.” If this is how Jolly LLB 2 is planning to hold its fort at the box office then we really don’t think Rs 100 crore is too far. Probably, by this Sunday? With a kickass first week, Jolly LLB 2 has also gone past Singh Is Bling( Rs 77.60 crore) to now become Akshay’s 5th biggest opening week after Rustom (Rs 90.9 crore), Airlift (Rs 83.5 crore), Housefull 3 (Rs 80.1 crore) and Rowdy Rathore (Rs 79 crore). In fact, not just in India! Jolly LLB 2 is also earning decent enough in the international market with its overseas tally being Rs 22.25 crore. According to reports, Jolly LLB 2 has crossed Rs 115 crores at the worldwide box office as of February 14, 2017.
Obviously, Valentine’s Day(Tuesday, Feb 14) came as a major booster to Jolly LLB 2’s box office figures but then the main reason why the film is maintaining its steady momentum is the fact it’s backed by a hard-hitting plot. Just in case you didn’t know, Jolly LLB 2 is a political satire where Akshay plays a lawyer who is corrupt and is only looking for ways to make quick money. However, eventually he tumbles upon a case that threatens his mere existence and that’s where the story begins. Will he stand up for justice or will he bow down to the many bullies who are ready to pull the trigger the minute he decides to set out for justice? Watch the film, if you haven’t already.
