The Dev D actor was at a press conference recently, where she made this revelation
While many B-town peeps refrain from revealing personal secrets about their past, Kalki Koechlin is surely not one of those typical B-townies, it seems. Why do we say so, you ask?
The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor was at a press conference on child sexual abuse organised by actor Rahul Bose’s NGO – H.E.A.L., where she had no qualms talking about her horrifying childhood. The actor went on to reveal that she was sexually abused as a child.
“The reason you haven’t heard about it is that I don’t like to talk about it. For me, it’s not a one day headline, it’s something that’s a reality I have lived with for a long time. Many of us have gone through it and most of the people that I know, especially close friends of mine who are women, have gone through some form of CSA (child sexual abuse). It’s just so out there, so much of it that I think it’s not something that should be ignored.” Koechlin said in an interview with a news channel without divulging details about her own experience.
Kalki also admitted that it took her many years to talk about it and that it changed her a lot as a person.
It’s indeed very brave of her to come out in open and talk about such a thing and at the same time create awareness about this disgusting crime. We at BollywoodLife say, kudos to her. More power to you, girl!
