Karan Johar’s next will bring the Kareena-Hrithik jodi back on the big screen after a gap of 10 years
Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan were last seen together in Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon in 2003. Since then, the two have stayed away from working with each other and buzz was that stories of their linkup played an important part in the rift between them. But now, producer Karan Johar has managed a casting coup of sorts. He has managed to get his good friend Kareena to sign on the dotted line for his next project Shuddhi starring Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Shuddhi will be helmed by the Agneepath director Karan Malhotra and is an intense love story.
This means that Deepika Padukone, who was also in contention for the role, has lost out to Kareena in bagging this big project. Deepika and Hrithik have never worked with each other, and guess Dips will have to wait a little longer to star opposite Mr Roshan.
For now, we hear that Karan is quite kicked about having Kareena on board. He was also the first one to cast the two actors opposite each other in his directorial venture Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001. After K3G, the duo was seen romancing each other in Yaadein and Mujhse Dosti Karoge!.
Shuddhi will go on floors in November this year, and Johar is looking to release it in the second half of 2014.
