Katrina Kaif’s loss is Anushka Sharma’s gain

After Katrina backed out of Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, Anushka has bagged the plum assignment and will star alongside Ranbir Kapoor

Looks like Katrina Kaif is really losing out on some meaty roles of late. Firstly, she was considered to be the main contender for Yash Raj Films’ Gunday, where she could have shared screen space with apna B-town young heartthrobs – Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, but then Priyanka Chopra proudly walked away with the role. And the latest we hear is that Ms Kaif has lost out on yet another significant role – this time in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Uff! And Kat’s loss has been Anushka Sharma’s gain.

The Gangs of Wasseypur director has been toying with the idea of making his dream project Bombay Velvet for quite a few years now. And just when he thought of starting work on it and cashing in on Katrina’s ever-growing popularity, he was taken aback to hear a ‘no’ from her. No, no… she’s not acting pricey guys. It’s just that after being a part of two back-to-back Rs 100 crores films – Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ek Tha Tiger, the leggy lass is keeping very busy these days. She has to shoot for two big promising films – Dhoom:3 and later the remake of Knight and Day with Hrithik Roshan, which is why she decided to turn down Anurag’s offer politely. Bechara Anurag’s wish to repeat the hit Ranbir-Kat jodi remains unfulfilled.

Considering the rate at which Kat’s turning down some lucrative film offers, we wonder if she’s making the right choices as far as the films she’s currently working on are concerned. But Anurag, there’s no need to worry ‘coz your film has two hottest actors – Ranbir and Anushka romancing each other for the first time. That’s Bombay Velvet USP no?
