Gorgeous Katrina Kaif was shooting in Spain for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara when she received MBKD’s script via email. And within a day she called back the first time director expressing interest in the film

Ali Abbas Zafar, the writer-director of the Yash Raj Films’ next production Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, did not have any female actor in mind to play the bride while writing the script. It was only after he finished scripting and met Aditya Chopra to discuss the cast that Zafar suggested Katrina Kaif’s name for the leading lady’s role. Like a true businessman, the YRF scion asked the newbie director as to what aspect in the script would appeal to Katrina. Zafar, who has been working with YRF for a while, was well prepared. So he confidently observed that it was unlike any of her past films, and Adi got convinced about MBKD director’s choice. Despite initial reluctance, the first-time director emailed the script to Katrina, who was shooting for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in Spain. To Zafar’s surprise, the next morning he received a call from her, expressing interest in the film. Fortunately for the director, Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 got postponed and Kat had dates to shoot this ‘fun and frolic’ genre film. So that was it. Soon after Kat’s approval Zafar approached Imran Khan for the leading man’s part. And so with YRF backing, the director had no trouble getting these big stars for his first film!
