Kunal Kapoor, happy 34th birthday!

The Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana actor brings in his birthday amidst loads of gossip surrounding his professional and personal life

Kunal Kapoor was born on October 18, 1977 in aamchi Mumbai. And as soon as he turned 24, he decided to step into tinseltown as Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s assistant director in the Amitabh Bachchan-Nandita Das-Manoj Bajpayee starrer Aks (2001).

But KK’s passion lay in front of the camera and not behind it. And he soon stepped into the limelight in the role of Kameshwar Mathur opposite Tabu in Meenaxi: A tale of three cities (2005). But it was his role in Rang De Basanti (2006) that got him noticed.

And over a span of a decade Kunal has featured in eight movies, five (Hattrick, Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Aja Nach Le, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Lamhaa) of which failed to leave a mark at the box office. Will his upcoming movie Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana give that desired boost to his career? Fingers crossed.

Also, as we wait for the birthday boy to cut his cake B-town’s buzzing with rumours about his link-ups with Amitabh Bachchan’s niece Naina. True? Who knows? Then there’s some buzz about Kunal turning scriptwriter with Chamkila – a movie based on a Punjabi singer who was killed in 1988. Is that true? While Kunal denies it, we would again like to say – who knows!

So even as we wish the birthday boy a very happy day, we also hope that he clears the air surrounding his professional and personal life soon. Will you, KK?
