Lata Mangeshkar songs: the fun side to the legendary singer

As the singing diva turns 82 today, we look at some of the most memorable mastibhare gaane she sang during her seven-decade long playback career

Bindiya chamkegi- Do Raaste

Lata Mangeshkar pepped up her voice to a great extent and did complete justice to this dance song. Listen to the expression that the singer brings to the song, its brilliant!

Dil vil pyar vyar- Shagird

Lata sang for a very young Saira Banu in this dance number. It was obvious that she was having a lot of fun while recording it!

Dilbar dil se pyare- Caravan

Lata sang this song for RD Burman in Caravan. This was a very different song for Lata, it was an out-and-out dance number with a lot modern elements. RD tapped a different side to the singer in this one.

Bahon Mein Chale Aao- Anamika

Jaya Bhaduri was super naughty in this song and Lata managed to match the naughtiness with her voice.

Mere Khwabon Me Jo Aye- Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge

This song was meant to be for Kajol’s character, who was probably 18 years old in the film. Lata did a great job in bringing out the innocence and the dreamy tone.

Dil To Pagal Hai

Lata sang the title track for Yash Chopra’s film yet again, but she was much older by then. Uttam Singh showed great faith in her and why wouldn’t he! She was little shaky but it’s Lata Mangeskar after all!

Mai Kya Karoon Ram- Sangam

She sang for Vayjantimala in this song from Sangam. The song was mischeivious and sexy at the same time.
