Madhur Bhandarkar honoured with New York Citizens Achievement Award

The National Award winning filmmaker was conferred the honour while on a holiday in New York

Madhur Bhandarkar is not new to awards. He may not have won any accolades at any of the mainstream award functions, but the director has won the National Award thrice in the past for his films. Although Madhur didn’t win any accolades for his much-hyped 2012 flick Heroine, there is some consolation at hand for the ‘realistic’ filmmaker.

Madhur, who is on a holiday in New York was conferred the New York Citizen’s Achievement Award yesterday. The filmmaker posted a pic of him receiving the award and tweeted, “am hugely honoured & humbled by the Citizen’s Achievement Award given 2 me by people of NYC. I m truly touched!”

Well, we’re sure that after receiving loads of criticism for his last film, Madhur must be delighted to at least receive some appreciation this year, even if it is in far away New York!
