Madhur Bhandarkar to be jury member at Cairo International Film Festival

The Heroine! director has been invited to participate in the prestigious film festival and judge movies from across the world

Bollywood has spread its wings worldwide, and it’s evident as more and more actors, directors and technicians are being invited to be a part of international film projects among other things. This time Madhur Bhandarkar has caught the eye of the organizers of the 35th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF). The National Award winning director will be on the International Jury that decides on the best movies made world over.

This is not the first time that Madhur has been associated with CIFF. His five films including Chandni Bar, Page 3, Traffic Signal, Corporate and Fashion was screened at the fest in 2010, and it seems that the filmmaker left the organizers impressed with his works.

An elated Madhur said, “I am delighted to be a part of the International Jury for the 35th edition of Cairo International Film Festival. I love the theme that they have ‘Positive thinking, revolution and freedom’. This is an honour, which I humbly accept.” Well, it will be good to see Madhur hobnobbing with the bigwigs of international cinema as he deliberates on the best films this year. By the way, he will also be judging Indian films like Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar, Karan Johar’s Agneepath and Rituparno Ghosh’s Chitrangada.
