Yes, you read right. The film has been exempted from tax and here’s some goss about it
Dedh Ishqiya starring Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Huma Qureshi, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi has finally hit the theatres. We hear that the film’s cast has done a great job. And now a little birdie tells us that the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh – Samajwadi party has exempted Dedh Ishqiya from entertainment tax. Recently, Madhuri performed in UP at the Saifai Mahotsav and that’s when we heard about this. Usually, films about patriotism or about some social issues are exempted from entertainment tax. But Dedh Ishqiya got this special exemption because parts of the film have been shot in UP.
This move has got a lot of criticism from the government. They’ve been arguing that people are dying in Muzaffarnagar, while the politicians are sitting back and enjoying high paid performances. And to add to it, they waived off entertainment tax from Dedh Ishqiya.
Well, we wonder what Madhuri has to say about all this. Is she aware about the criticism she’s drawing towards herself due to her Saifai performance, despite a good comeback with Dedh Ishqiya?
