After the blockbuster success of Bodyguard and Singham, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan earns some profits too
It looks like 2011 is going to be one of Bollywood’s better years at the box office. Despite unflattering reviews and lack of star power to guarantee a blasting opening Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has managed to collect Rs 26 crore in its opening weekend. this after the blockbuster success of Bodyguard and Singham. Being a solo release has worked to its advantage. Even though, the film did not have much to offer, the audiences had no other film to watch. And it has continued to fare decently. And if Shahid Kapoor-Sonam Kapoor’s Mausam doesn’t release this Friday due to its troubles with the IAF, MBKD could enjoy another solo week, which could help up the collections. And then Mausam will have to release on on September 23, which would mean that the film will have to fight it out with Shreyas Talpade-Tusshar Kapoor’s Hum Tum Shabana and Akshay Kumar’s production Speedy Singhs.
