Milkha Singh paid Re 1 for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

The makers of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag pay tribute to the veteran athlete by giving him a Re 1 currency note that was printed in 1958

All Milkha Singh wants is that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra makes Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in a way that inspires young and talented runners to win more medals in the field of athletics. He refused to charge a single penny from the makers of the film. But Rajiv Tandon, CEO of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures Pvt Ltd, recently said in an interview that they wanted to express their gratitude to the sportsman and hence they gave him a Re 1 note printed in 1958 – the same year Singh won his first gold medal in athletics, in the Commonwealth Games.

We hear Singh was extremely touched by this gesture. While Singh wants the film to motivate sportspeople, the makers maintain that the flick is an inspirational one, which stresses on the concept of human spirit and resilience.

We wait to see if Farhan Akhtar is able to fulfill the many expectations people have from this movie.
