Miss Lovely, Shahid win awards at 14th Mumbai Film Festival

Director Ashim Ahluwalia’s take on B-grade filmmakers and their dark world shines at the recently held reputed film fest. And so does Hansal Mehta’s latest…

With Kahaani and Gangs Of Wasseypur, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has ruled the roost this year, and buzz is that his role in Aamir Khan’s Talaash is also a meaty one. His performance as a B-grade filmmaker in Ashim Ahluwalia’s Miss Lovely was appreciated at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival held in May. And now Miss Lovely has been named Best Film in the India Gold category of the 14th Mumbai Film Festival. It also won the Reliance Media Works CreaTech (Creativity & Technology) Award.

Director Hansal Mehta’s Raj Kumar Yadav-starrer Shahid was the runner-up in the same category. The Special Jury award was given to Manjeet Singh for Mumbai Cha Raja. This year has been good for Bollywood, as unusual films like Kahaani, Paan Singh Tomar and Vicky Donor are not only being made, but are also being lapped up by the audiences. We now wait to watch Miss Lovely and Shahid when they are commercially released. And you, dear Bollywoodlifer?
