The two B-town singers promise to enthral at the first ever women’s film festival in India
The Mumbai Women’s International Film Festival (MWIFF) 2013 is springing new surprises each day. After announcing that actor-director Nandita Das’ films will be screened at the fest’s first edition and fans will get a chance to interact with her, the MWIFF has declared that Bollywood singers Shibani Kashyap and Shilpa Rao will be rocking the stage this year.
Kashyap is a pop singer-songwriter who not only does playback for Bollywood films but is an acclaimed live performer as well. She has delivered hits like Zinda hoon main for Zinda and Sajna aa bhi ja for Waisa Bhi Hota Hai – Part II and recently rendered Janta rocks in Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha.
Rao wowed everyone with her rendition of Tose naina lage re from Anwar, a duet she sang with Kshitij Tarey. She went on to sing for films like Anurag Kashyap’s Dev.D and Gulaal and Yash Raj Films’ Bachna Ae Haseeno. Her number Udhi udhi ittefaq se from Paa was very popular. Shilpa’s recent songs include Gubbare for Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, English vinglish and Gustaakh dil for English Vinglish, Yaariyan for Cocktail and Ishq shava for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, among others.
Singer Abhilasha Chellam who shot to fame with Zee TV’s show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will also sing at the event.
