Made at a minimal budget, Vishesh Films’ murder mystery has witnessed a decent number of footfalls across theatres in India
Looks like the Bhatts can now bank upon their new blue-eyed boy – Randeep Hooda! Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films’ latest release Murder 3 has collected Rs 13.31 crores nett at the domestic box office in its opening weekend. This sound start will ensure that the distributors, exhibitors and producers make handsome profits from the project.
Word of mouth publicity has helped Vishesh Bhatt’s debut film considerably. Going by the opening weekend collections, the film is expected to hold well through the week too. And it’s not just the film buffs, but distributors too who are pitching in with their words of praise. “Murder 3 does a weekend of Rs 13.31 crores making it Randeep Hooda’s biggest opening; earns Rs 4.52 crores on Friday, Rs 4.01 crores on Saturday and Rs 4.78 crores on Sunday,” Mahesh Bhatt tweeted. Whereas trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “The movie didn’t witness ample growth after an ordinary start. The advantage is its low cost, which should help it sail safe.”
Prakhar Joshi, from PVR Cinemas added, “Murder 3 is the first U/A certified film from the Murder franchise where families have come out to see the film. It’s taken a turn towards greater content and lesser titillation. The film has a good word of mouth and I am hoping it will hold on during the week.” Sanjay Ghai, COO Mukta Arts said, “A debutant director along with a non A-lister starcast, Murder 3 had its odds staked up from day one. Yet, it did exceedingly well over the weekend. It will be unfair to compare the box office collections of Murder 3 with previous two films because Murder 3’s premise is different and it is a female oriented.”
