Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja TV review: Gripping, entertaining , mysterious and definitely worth watching!

It is a tale of love, betrayal, patriotism and loyalty near the borders of India

Character sketch

Shot in actual Punjab, Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja is the story of Sameer Atwal (Karam Rajpal) – the lazy, innocent and aimless boy’s transformation to a man on a mission and Mehr (Gulki Joshi) – the independent, hardworking lady with a generous heart falling in love with him.

The show starts with a tense situation at the border; guns fired, a few dead and one dangerous criminal caught. A few miles away from the LOC, is Bebe’s (Tanushree Kaushal) dhaba where she collects money for the widows of army officers. The camera then introduces Mehr, who runs errands for Bebe and is her best friend. Mehr and Sameer (Bebe’s son) are best friends; they may fight like cats and dogs but can give their life for each other.

Story so far

In the first episode, Mehr dares Sameer to cross the LOC and get amla for her. Without thinking twice, Sameer runs to the other side of the border to get the fruit. Mistaking it to be an attack, the opposite country starts shooting. His cousin brother, Purab (Nikhil Chadda), who is an army officer positioned at the border runs to save his life amidst the gunfire.

When Bebe hears this, she beats Sameer black and blue and throws him out of the house. However by dusk, Sameer is back home with Mehr, begging for forgiveness from Bebe. Bebe loves and cares for Mehr. Bebe helps Mehr fulfill all her dreams and get married someday. While she wishes Mehr to be Sameer’s wife, she knows an independent girl like her will want a hardworking husband. Bebe decides to never bring it up. Instead, suggests Purab as a suitable groom for Mehr. Apparently, Purab also is in love with Mehr since childhood and is often jealous of Sameer and Mehr’s friendship.

The future

The story forward will showcase how Purab will make Sameer leave the pind by getting him a job. What makes Sameer a changed person? Why is Mehr being forced to marry Purab, and how Sameer will stop it? Who is hatching a plan to get to the Indian army using Bebe, Sameer and their dhaba?

Our verdict

Karam displays the innocence of a young man with élan; the mischievous glint in his eyes speaks volumes about his acting talent. Gulki seems to have grown up from her earlier shows and is doing a good job at playing the carefree yet responsible Mehr. It has been months since Nikhil came on screen, he was last seen in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. The dishy dude shows of his grey shades with panache.

The story of the show seems different and interesting. The flavour of Punjab blends well with the storyline. However, we believe the makers are being very liberal with the army laws. The opening shot at the LOC displaying flags of both countries is shot well. The essence of Punjab is yet to be utilised completely, guess that will come with time. The language used on the show doesn’t depict that the characters are from Punjab – the dialect is missing.

All in all, Nadaan Parindey has the potential to win over hearts and make you emotional but at the same time, the script should be crisper with focus on the thriller aspect. Definitely worth a watch!
