Neeraj Pandey approached for South remake rights to Special 26

The A Wednesday director has already received an offer from producers in the South asking for the rights of his new Akshay Kumar-Anupam Kher starrer, Special 26

Neeraj Pandey is definitely a happy man right now. His Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Jimmy Shergill starrer Special 26 is not only receiving critical acclaim, but has also earned Rs 27 crores at the box office in its opening weekend. And as icing on the success cake is the fact that producers from the South have been approaching the director for remake rights.

“I was approached on Friday evening itself for the South remake rights of Special 26,” disclosed Neeraj Pandey at an event organised to celebrate the success of his con flick. But he refused to divulge details of the offer that has been made to him. “Talks are on,” is all he was willing to say.

Pandey’s debut film A Wednesday was also picked up by South makers and was remade in Telugu and Tamil. While the Telugu movie Eeenadu starred Kamal Haasan and Venkatesh in the lead, the Tamil version, Unnaipol Oruvan had Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal play the protagonists. Let’s wait and see which South stars are keen to step into the shoes of Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher this time around.
