Neil Bhatt helped to rescue cast and crew from the recent fire on the sets of Diya Aur Baati Hum

We recently told you about a fire on the sets of the Star Plus show due to a blast in the AC vent. Neil narrates his near death experience

Neil Bhatt aka ASP Zakir Siddiqui was recently stuck in the fire that broke out on the sets of the sets of Diya Aur Baati Hum. Apparently, the actor helped to rescue a lot of people when the fire broke out. Recalling the incident Neil said, “The AC that blasted was right outside my makeup room. Everyone was on set for the Iftaar scene and only three people were in their respective makeup rooms – Deepika (Singh), one other character artist and me. I was on the phone when I suddenly heard the blast at around 7:15 pm. I was almost thrown off my chair.”

“Somehow I got up and tried getting out. When I heard Deepika shout that the ceiling was falling, I was worried that it might fall on me so I stayed in, but then thought I might be stranded in the rubble hence I ran out. My makeup room is on the first floor and hers is on the ground floor. There was complete chaos and total blackout as soon as we got out. I went to the backside of the set because a lot of people were gathered there. However, the real heroes of that night were the spot, light and setting departments. They were the ones who really rescued all the people trapped inside. The only thing I could do was help pick the injured and put them in the ambulance. I went back inside the set to pick up some important belongings, so I wrapped a napkin ‘coz by now the set was filled with smoke and dust. On the way, my co-actors requested me to get their things like their watch or phone or something or the other. Finally we did a head count and everybody was luckily safe. Only the two AC repair personnel were severely injured in the accident. One of them is recovering quite fast from the burns.”

Well that is indeed commendable, guess Neil takes his onscreen character quite seriously. Right, BollywoodLifers?
