Neil Nitin Mukesh turns villain for AR Murugadoss’ Kaththi

Apart from the David actor, the film stars Vijay and Samantha in the lead roles

Neil Nitin Mukesh, it seems, has given up aspirations of playing a leading man. In Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo he is cast as Salman Khan’s younger brother and the role is believed to have shades of grey. But he will be playing an out-and-out villain, that too in A R Murugadoss’ next film Kaththi, which also marks the Tamil debut of the luckless Neil.

Will the actor learn to speak Tamil. Counters Murugadoss, “Neil plays a North Indian character and only has to speak a smattering of Tamil. So, while the film is in Tamil, he will be heard speaking a lot of Hindi.” The director is known to cast brutal and sadistic villains (Pradeep Rawat playing the title role in Ghajini and Farhad Daruwala as the terrorist in Holiday) says he chose Neil for his good looks. “Gone is the time when villains had to look a certain way. You don’t have to sport scars and frowns to be a villain. You can be a goodlooking normal guy and yet, be a villain.”

Says a friend of the actor, “Neil is right now trying to find his bearings. He has already played a villain in Abbas-Mustan’s Players. This isn’t a new territory for him.”
