After Prakash Jha, another filmmaker has announced a film on spiritual guru Asaram Bapu, who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl
Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgn and Manoj Bajpayee were being considered to play the infamous godman on the silver screen. Guess what telly actor Hemant Pandey has won the race, Pandeyji from popular TV show Office Office will essay the role of Asaram Bapu in Chal Guru Ho Ja Shuru. The actor in a recent interview confirmed that this is indeed a film on fraudulent spiritual gurus. He said, “The film will expose all those who have turned religion into a business and the public is becoming their victim.”
This film will be directed by Manoj Sharma and will also feature Chandrachur Singh, Sanjay Mishra and Manoj Pahwa. This will be Sharma’s second film on Asaram after the 2010 movie Swaha, which was embroiled in controversy and was released after much delay and a prolonged legal battle. Chal Guru Ho Ja Shuru will go on floors from Nov 12 and is expected to release in March or April next year.
With Asaram Bapu in judicial custody, looks like the film industry is giving no reason for his followers to miss him.
