The Delhi Safari director isn’t amused by questions about his animation film being pitted against the campus caper
Director Nikhil Advani is a happy man thanks to the wonderful response his animation film Delhi Safari got. The film has been appreciated so much for its relevance and entertainment value that it has been made tax free in Maharashtra. The makers are trying to make Delhi Safari tax free in other states too and the process is on. But Advani is not 100 percent happy. One question that is thrown at him too often for his liking is: By releasing his film on the same day as his mentor Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, was he trying to prove a point?
We spoke to him to congratulate him on DS being made tax free and asked about constant queries on whether his film was competing with SOTY. He said, “We had no delusions of competing with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year. It would be silly of us even to even think so. SOTY was a big budget extravaganza directed by the biggest filmmakers of the country. I can only say that we have paved the way for more animation filmmakers and they can start off from where we have taken it to. We are now trying to get our film tax free in other states as well.”
