Kaara Aattakkaara was the most popular song from the album of the original OK Kanmani, and now music maestro AR Rahman recreates the song for the Hindi audience without losing all the magical qualities of the original. Now OK Jaanu is an official remake of the 2015 Tamil hit, that starred Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, and therefore most of the songs that AR Rahman had composed for the original are being used here as well. However, the Hindi album also has quite a couple of new songs as well, and having reviewed the album previously, I loved OK Jaanu‘s soundtrack slightly better than the Tamil one (even if that means more rotten eggs for me from the OKK fans). OK Jaanu stars Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, while Shaad Ali directs his mentor, Mani Ratnam’s vision in Hindi.
Coming back to Kaara Fankaara, I still have trouble adjusting to Hindi lyrics (Navneet Virk, Kaly, Hard Kaur & ADK) here having heard the Tamil song so much, but the rap (Kaly, Hard Kaur & ADK) and the plethora of singers used here (Shashaa Tirupati, Ashima Mahajan, Paroma Dasgupta) work so well to make it the latest youth anthem, which will definitely usher in more of the college going crowds into the theatres.
Here’s the song by the way…
Talking about the video, it shows the transition of romance for the characters played by Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, with mild flirtation to sensuous romance, And of course, a lots of making out and kissing. We also get to see the video game that Aditya’s character is developing in the movie (he is a game-developer), incase you are confused as to why a cartoon character is seen jumping all over the place in the city. There is also the now iconic hand kiss moment, that is quite popular with the Tamil fans.
OK Jaanu is scheduled to release this Friday, ending Dangal‘s long, undisputed reign at the box office. It will be clashing with Deepika Padukone’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, that’s releasing a day after.
