Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara: Most ridiculous dialogues ever!

In a desperate attempt to better the 2010 Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi gangster flick, director Milan Luthria and dialogue writer Rajat Arora have gone all over-dramatic, thereby creating a ‘wonder’ world rather than what it was supposed to be: the underworld!

One of the prime factors responsible for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’s success, besides Pritam’s music and the screenplay, was certainly the asardaar dialogues by Rajat Arora. And three years later, Milan Luthria has again chosen his favourite writer to bring in the required emotion and intensity to his film without considering the consequences!

Considering the original 2010 gangster drama was a huge success, the new one was highly anticipated by fans of the genre. But when the makers announced roping in Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan for the sequel, excitement levels waned. Several trade pundits and industry experts smelled something fishy in the producers’ – Balaji Motion Pictures and Luthria – decision.

All hell broke loose when we ‘suffered’ through the two-hour plus long Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara, with its tagline – ‘This time it’s personal’. And the ‘personal’ seems to be between the makers and the audience. The film is peppered with dialogues like ‘Aathana dalke do kaudi ki dhamki koi bhi de sakta hai‘ and ‘Jab mila tab ghutne tak aata tha, ab tujhe ghutne pe laana hoga‘ by the Khiladi. Wethinks Luthria and Arora should’ve been a little more careful with these. For those who haven’t watched the film yet, take a dekho at some of the silliest filmi lines in recent times, almost on par with some from Himmatwala, Zilla Ghaziabad or Policegiri, and then decide if you still want to take the risk of watching this film!
