Pia Trivedi: PR is important, but I can’t really fake it!

She started off with a blink and miss appearance in an item song in Bluffmaster. After so many years she has finally got a full-fledged role on her CV and the first person she happened to share screen space with is none other than her school friend Tusshar Kapoor

Now that model-VJ Pia Trivedi has stepped into a new arena, she claims that she’s going to play for keeps.Pia is making her acting debut in the soon to release Hum Tum Shabana and says that performing onscreen is hands down more satisfying than modeling. “I think acting in front of the camera is way cooler. The fashion world looks really glamorous. The high you get walking on the stage for a few seconds is fantastic but it’s not really satisfying. As an actor you get to take yourself higher, whereas the process and the growth in the fashion industry are extremely slow,” she says.

Refuting rumours that she’s planning to write a cookbook soon, Pia wonders where this story came from. “I have no idea what’s everyone talking about. I have taken to cooking and yes, I do enjoy it a lot and find it extremely therapeutic. But I don’t have that many recipes yet to come up with a book. It’s just been a couple of months since I started cooking and the first dish I ever made is yellow spicy rice, which my grandma cooks pretty often.”

So were there any inhibitions as far as diction is concerned? It’s a common problem faced by a lot of people in the industry. “I am a Mumbai girl and I know that a lot of people think I can’t speak Hindi. But that’s not true. My stint with channel V as a VJ really helped me overcome these obstacles. What I really found difficult was moving from point A to B while saying a dialogue. You pick a book and say something and move around, I had to put in a little more effort to get that right,” she replies.

Creating an image is one of the prerequisites for a successful B-town career, but Pia isn’t working too hard work on her strategies yet. “It’s not like people don’t know me. I’ve worked really hard on this image I have today. Yes, PR is important, but I can’t really fake it,” she says.

When it comes to sharing screen space, which actor tops the wish list? “Aamir Khan, I was mesmerized by his performance in Ghajini. I wish I get to work in his professional space some day,” she declares.
