Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu‘s Pink, a courtroom drama, was a niche film that has made it BIG! Yes, the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer has been the talk of town ever since it released last Friday. Not only have the critics liked Pink, the movie going audience is raving about it too. And even though Pink opened to a very average Rs 4.32 crore collection on day 1, it grew over the weekend to earn Rs 21.51 crore at the end of its first three day run. Post that, it passed the crucial Monday test as it collected Rs 3.78 crore on day 4. Pink then maintained its fabulous run at the box office as it added another Rs 3.51 crore on day 5 (Tuesday). And looks like there is no stopping the film as it grew again on day 6 (Wednesday) when it collected Rs 3.87 crore. This means Pink has a total tally of Rs 32.67 crore after just six days.
Considering that Pink was a niche release and received only an average screen count, we can say that Pink has had an excellent run and is unstoppable. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also agrees with us, as he mentioned in his tweets, “#Pink is UNSTOPPABLE… Wed biz [3.87 cr] HIGHER than Tue [3.51 cr] and Mon [3.78 cr]… SUPERB… Day-wise data in next tweet… #Pink Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 9.54 cr, Mon 3.78 cr, Tue 3.51 cr, Wed 3.87 cr. Total: Rs 32.67 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT!” The best part about the film’s run at the box office is that it has collected more on Wednesday than Monday and Tuesday, meaning that the film’s collection is on a rise again! This growth in Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Pink can be attributed to the film’s storyline! Pink has a great message and it is extremely engaging. Also Amitabh’s fabulous performance and Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury’s direction are commendable… People have loved Pink and the positive word of mouth publicity will help the film grow till the end of the first week. In fact, with no BIG release this week (only Riteish Deshmukh‘s Banjo and Radhika Apte‘s Parched are releasing), Pink may have a good run till the end of the second weekend…
In fact, Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink has performed more than what was expected. Out trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) had expected Pink to collect Rs 15 crore over the first weekend, but it ended up with an impressive collection of Rs 21.51 crore. Also, Pink was made on a budget of around Rs 25 crore only. This means that Pink has already made a considerable amount of profit. Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi‘s Raaz Reboot is struggling at the box office as it continues to dip. Raaz Reboot has collected just Rs 22.97 crore in 5 days.
