Prabhu Deva to helm Akshay-Sonakshi project

The actor-director returns to Hindi cinema after Salman Khan’s Wanted

Looks like Bollywood stars have a penchant for south remakes. After Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn, it is the turn of Akshay Kumar who has chosen a south remake for his next. He is acting in the remake of Karthi’s recent Tamil hit Sirutthai. Prabhu Deva will once again wield the megaphone for a remake.

Sirutthai was the remake of Tollywood blockbuster Vikramarkudu which featured Ravi Teja in a dual role. Karthi reprised the dual role of a tough cop and a street smart petty thief in Tamil. Bollywood sources revealed that after watching both versions, producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali felt that Akshay is the right choice for the mass masala theme. Sonakshi Sinha will act opposite to Akshay, in a role which was played by Tamannaah in Tamil.
