The star uses the popularity of the super successful cricket league to drive home his point
Farhan Akhtar can add another feather to his cap. After playing an actor, filmmaker and a producer in real life, Farhan can gladly call himself a social activist too. Over the last few months, Farhan has gone all out, on a sort of a mission, to promote his initiative about violence against women which is titled MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination).
Celebrities like Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Akshay Kumar have supported Farhan in this endeavour. The latest we saw was the actor, in a very clever move, promoting this campaign via the hugely popular IPL 2013. During the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab on Friday, Farhan distributed around 70,000 moustaches and MARD flyers among the spectators. In the commentary box and on the field, many cricketers and Bollywood personalities like Adam Gilchrist, Gautam Gambhir, Preity Zinta were seen wearing the moustache and supporting the cause.
Incidentally, even though SRK wasn’t present at the venue, Farhan said that it was the superstar who encouraged him to use the popularity of IPL. We really appreciate Farhan going out on a limb and championing such a great cause. Check out how our IPL dudes looked in the cool moustaches!
