Priyanka Chopra avoids box office face-off with ex-lover Shahid Kapoor

The release date of PeeCee’s much-awaited Mary Kom biopic has been revised and we hear it will hit the theatres a week earlier. Guess the makers don’t want any kind of competition at the BO

Not too long ago, we had reported how alleged ex-lovers Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor were all set to battle it out at the box office. The Exotic babe’s Mary Kom biopic was supposed to release on October 2 alongside Sasha’s highly-anticipated Haider. Apart from these two films, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bang Bang is also scheduled for Gandhi Jayanti release. But producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and director Omung Kumar’s biopic starring Priyanka in the lead will now hit the screens a bit early. Apparently, the makers will wrap up the post production work before time and therefore they are planning to release the biopic in the last week of September. A crewmember from Bhansali’s film told a leading tabloid, “The film was all set to release on October 2. But the film’s unit is currently working on its post production and we expect to complete it soon. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to release it early. This means that it will no longer clash with Shahid Kapoor’s Haider and Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang.”

Wethinks it’s a wise move coz a solo release always has a better chance of getting cash registers jingling at the ticket windows then otherwise. And since Priyanka, SLB and Omung Kumar have worked really hard for the biopic, we are sure they want to walk away with the bigger money pie rather than struggle for it. So in that case, releasing Mary Kom biopic a week earlier makes sense, hai na?

Also, PC is no longer just a Bollywood actor but an international pop star as well. Hence SLB will release the Mary Kom biopic in Hindi and English so that the film appeals to Priyanka’s fans globally. Another smart move wethinks!
