Despite the censor board’s refusal, producer KC Bokadia is hellbent on releasing his old movie with a new title on January 4 to help Govinda’s sagging career
Remember Mithun Chakraborty’s career-changing hit Pyar Jhukta Nahin? The 1985 blockbuster changed the direction of the actor’s career from an action-dance star to a romantic hero. Now its producer KC Bokadia has hit on an ostensibly ingenious idea to cash in on the popularity of the film to resurrect Govinda’s career.
He has decided to rename his new film, Govinda and Priyanka Chopra-starrer Deewana Main Deewana, shot four years ago, as Pyar Jhukta Nahin. A bit late in the day considering all the film’s publicity ad marketing content have gone out with the original title Deewana Main Deewana! The film is set for a January 4 release in 2013.
The censor board has refused to certify the film with a new name, but Bokadia is determined to bring in the changed title.
Bokadia said, “I feel the title Pyar Jhukta Nahin would be lucky for Govinda. Though it’s late for a change, we’re going ahead calling the film by its new title. Yes, the censor board couldn’t grant me permission to re-title the film at this late stage. The censor certificate reads ‘Deewana Main Deewana alias Pyar Jhukta Nahin‘. Now we’ll pitch the new title to the public. Even at this late stage the title Pyar Jhukta Nahin would mean more to the masses than the earlier title. There would be instant connectivity between the audience and the title. I’m hoping it’d do to Govinda’s career what the earlier Pyar Jhukta Nahin did for Mithun.”
Well, we hope so, too! Meanwhile, see some stills of the film in the gallery below.
