The leggy lass accepts that it’s a meaty role which appears in small quantities throughout the film
Unlike Vidya Balan, who has been refusing roles where she has to play second fiddle, Piggy Chops, post Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf, in which she was the ‘hero’ seems to be open to doing roles where she is not the centre of attraction. Ever since the first trailer of Karan Johar’s Agneepath was aired, it has been very clear that the film belonged to Vijay Deenanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) and Kaancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) while Priyanka was probably just adding to the glamour quotient.
The makers have been frequently asked about the female lead, Kaali and they always maintained that unlike the old version, they have added a lot of meat to Priyanka’s character in the film. Surprisingly, Priyanka has no illusions about her role in the film. In a recent interview she said, that the role was challenging for her, because she usually plays characters set in the urban milieu. In Agneepath, her character lives in a brothel, set in a chawl and her only job in the film was to pep up Hrithik whenever he felt low. The Gun gun guna song is one such example, where she brings a smile on Duggu’s face when he is going through a traumatic phase. And she has indeed done a decent job in the song, kudos Saroj Khan. Having said that, she maintains that the film belongs to Duggu and Sanju, and she has no issues with it. Now that’s very smart of Priyanka, don’t you agree?
