The Mary Kom actor reasons up as to why she was the best one suited for the role of the Olympic medalist

Priyanka Chopra is all pumped up for the release of her upcoming biopic on Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom. The Dil Dhadakne Do actor, however, opened up as to why she thinks she is the best one suited for playing the title role. She says, “A biopic has its own challenges. The biggest challenge is the fact that you are given the responsibility of portraying someone else’s life onscreen and do justice to it. I guess there may have been other heroines who could have tried to play Mary Kom better than me but there were many factors because of which I was suited aptly for the role.” So what were those reasons which make her better suited that anyone else for the role? We ask…

The petite heroine reverts by saying, “Mary Kom is a present day person. She is not someone who was famous in the 70s-80s and we are making a biopic on them. She is very much there around. She is still in the sport which made her famous and she is still winning championships. So if I do anything wrong onscreen people would know it immediately. Also, Mary Kom and I are the same age and therefore I was suited that way to play her.”

But doesn’t she think that some heroine from the north east could have played the character better onscreen as they would have a similar look like MC Mary Kom? She retorts by saying, “A film this big needed to be presented in a grand way. It is true that the character of Mary Kom would have looked more authentic had someone from the north east done the role, but with me in the lead the film will have a bigger reach. We wanted the film to reach everyone across the globe. When you have a new heroine doing such a project the mass appeal becomes less, however, with me the film will be seen by everyone. I am not boasting about myself but we wanted MC Mary Kom’s story to reach every human being alive.”

Too full of herself, playing a biopic of someone who is ethnically different and changing her true story to fit your ethnicity is a joke. It’s like Salman Khan playing Bruce Lee and then changing Bruce Lee’s family into a indian family.
