We hear that the actor has been ousted from the TV drama – but did he quit to start a production house with wife Jennifer Winget?
Tellyville has been buzzing with the news that dishy hero Karan Singh Grover has been sacked from Qubool Hai. And that various actors are being looked at to replace him in the role of Asad. The two hot favourites are Barun Sobti (formerly of Iss Pyaar Ka Kya Naam Doon – he quit to do films, we thought?) and Gurmeet Choudhury (now a hot contender for the trophy in Nach Baliye 6), but both are busy, reportedly just signed up to do a new contemporary romantic drama on Star Plus in the new year. That exciting news apart, we hear noises about Raqesh Vashisht, who is now dancing with wife Riddhi Dogra on Nach Baliye, being the final choice…
But we also hear that Karan has not been summarily dismissed, but has walked out of Qubool Hai. Why? Like so many actors on TV, he too wants to make it big in movies. Yes, we know he tried a couple of times – remember Bhram? I Am 24? Lorie/The Loving Doll? – but those attempts crashed dismally when they peeked at the box office. This time around, he is far more ambitious. He and wife Jennifer Winget, who stars as Kumud on Saraswatichandra, have big plans for a new baby. No, they are not pregnant, but look forward to starting their own production house. Will it make films? Or will KSG and JW stick to what they know best: TV dramas? Whatever they eventually do, we hear that the loving couple is now on a ten-day vacation in Delhi, after which all shall reportedly be revealed.
And until then, we have another little bit of gossip to tell you about – apparently Jen is also giving her Saraswatichandra producers the same kind of grief as hubby dearest; she is showing far more attitude than she is entitled to and vanishing for much longer than the official leave she takes. Kuch to ho raha hai…lekin kya?
