‘Raanjhana’ first look: Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush make an unconventional couple!

The ever-so-stylish Sonam and Kolaveri di-fame star Dhanush team up for Anand Rai’s upcoming film Raanjhana

Tanu weds Manu director Anand Rai is now all set with an epic love story against the backdrop of Varanasi and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh for his next outing, called Raanjhana. The film will see Dhanush playing the lead as a schoolboy. The scrawny actor has had to shed weight to look like a skinny teenager growing up in Varanasi. The 29-year-old actor is also taking lessons in English diction.

And guess what? The average-looking actor from the South will be paired up with the style diva of Bollywood, Sonam Kapoor. The Kapoor gal will be seen playing a small town girl with big dreams in this romantic saga. The story of Raanjhana revolves around a young Sonam who completes her schooling and finds her wings in the politically charged atmosphere of the university.

We know that Sonam has played a small town girl before in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi-6, opposite Abhishek Bachchan. But for this one Sonam needs to de-glam her popular image for which she has has been attending acting workshops conducted by well-known Delhi theatre person Arvind Gaur. Will Sonam recreate the magic of Masakali once again?

Do tell us what you think.

Dhanush is an average looking (sometimes below average) looking actor. But his first movie itself was a big hit due to his role and acting skills. Most of his movies were good grossers in box office down south. He carefully choose the role that suits him and the movie comes out with a brilliant performance from the actor. He is one actor how has proved that skills are more important than the looks. I am not a big fan of him but after watching his “Aadukalam” movie, I really felt he deserved the national award. Good luck to him in his first bollywood movie.
