Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu’s Race was filled with twists and turns. Directors Abbas-Mustan promise that the sequel will be better
Race 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on November 30, 2012. Producer Ramesh Taurani confirms this, “Race 2 releases November 30 next year. We felt it was just the right date to release our film.” After all the hassles the makers faced over the casting, the film finally went on floors early this year. Abbas-Mustan have wrapped up their Mumbai schedule and are now headed outstation. Director Abbas says Race 2 is in the same genre and will be made on as grand a scale as the original. “We will be shooting in Turkey and Cyprus next. The story has plenty of twists and turns and every character will have gray shades.” Well, that does it, Race too had multiple twists and turns, so much so that it became difficult to finally figure who is conning whom. If Race 2 is supposed to be a notch higher, we’d be sitting with a notebook taking notes. Well, let’s hope the director duo realises that no matter what, the movie has to be comprehendible. To make a slick thriller you do not need that many shockers, one is more than enough. Don’t you think? Take Farhan Akhtar’s Don for instance – all it did was change the climax and the audience was left flabbergasted. And you definitely do not need a multi-star cast for it either. Race 2, the action thriller, produced by Tips has the original pair Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu along with Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel. Let’s hope the two directors manage to pull this project off without any more glitches!
