Abbas Mustan’s suspense thriller has taken almost 15 days to touch the magical figure
Last year, Karan Johar’s Agneepath was the first movie to enter the Rs 100 crore club, and this year, it’s Abbas Mustan’s multi-starrer Race 2 which has made Bollywood proud. Yay!!! After getting a bumper opening of Rs 51.35 crores at the box office on the weekend of its release, the collections unfortunately slipped down to Rs 24.75 crores in the first week. But the film sustained really well over the weekdays given the limited choice that was available for the audience – Vishwaroop, David, Listen Amaya, Mai and Midnight’s Children.
Therefore, indications were rife over the second week itself and it was clear that Race 2 was indeed the first choice of moviegoers in the second week too, and as a result it earned the much-needed Rs 23 crores to hit the 100 crore mark. Along with the makers, the actors too would be equally excited to be a part of the 100 crore club. Now, everybody associated with Race 2, please don’t justify this as the reason for your price hike!
