After facing an array of controversies, it’s Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroop that has generated curiosity amongst moviegoers
Kamal Haasan must be breathing a sigh of relief now. After facing so many challenges, his film Vishwaroop, the Hindi version of the original Tamil action thriller Vishwaroopam, is netting good money at the box office. So far, the film has collected close to Rs 8 crores, that too in just three days since its release on February 1. Bejoy Nambiar’s David, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vikram and Vinay Virmani, on the other hand, has been a disappointment.
While Vishwaroop got mixed reactions from both audiences and critics, Nambiar’s David did not exactly receive a warm welcome. The film managed to bag meager Rs 2 crores over the weekend. Clearly, Kamal Haasan’s much talked about production was a winner this weekend.
It collected close to Rs 2 crores on Friday alone and the rest Rs 6 crores were made over the next two days. David, on the other hand, could not reach a crore mark on any day. But one film that is ruling the collection centers at the moment is Abbas Mustan’s extravagant production Race 2. The multi-starter drama collected Rs 15 crores in the second week. In total, Race 2 has so far netted Rs 90 crores (in just two weeks). But now it looks like in the coming days Vishwaroop will draw more moviegoers into the theaters.
